I Always Hated Theatre

How many more remakes of this play are we going to watch?

How many more versions of myself can you stretch me into?

Like a lifeless wooden doll being held up by strings of four,

You, the puppet master,

controlling the way I move and forcing me into this war.

I watch every remake in hopes that this time it ends happily with us.

Because there is a version of me that is searching for the version of you that is looking for a conversion in us.

Except in all of your versions,

you cut off my strings and leave me on the floor.

I'm not watching this play anymore.

There is an ending between us that I am no longer willing to explore.
