'dead flowers' (2024) is a piece that represents the darker sides of artist Tierney Miller's take on the worldly experience. It is a watercolor study completed with the focus on movement and color balance. However, thematically, it is a play on life and death- The experience that the first person may see if a flower field of beautiful, bold, and dark flowers. With a yellow center symbolizing the sun, and what appears to be an abstract representation of a rock or the top view of a tree stump. It feels warm with tones of red, yellow, and orange. Themes of light and liveness. Then there is the second viewer, who may see a rather darker theme. The dripping figures do not represent flowers and their stems, but bullet wounds and falling blood. Splatter to compliment the intensity and violent nature of this memory. And what was found as the stillness of a rock, or tree, shares the opposite effect of a moving, spilling, and growing pool of blood. Regardless of which version you see, or if you see a makeshift version your own, there is a story here being shared and felt.
